coming home from work tonight loads of blue smoke at idle and a big cloud when i pulled away. didn't seem to be any that i could see in the mirror when it was driving just when idling and pulling away.

sound like me turbo's had it? it was an unknown from ebay, no play in it though...but the comp blades were chipped, could this have unbalanced it and caused it to shake itself to death or summat?

other than that i can only think it'd be the exhaust guides as these are the only thing that haven't been changed from the last engine, but surely it'd have smoked since i built the engine?

any idea's or things to check before i take the turbo off this weekend and stick my LCB back on it till i've got some pennies?

Nick :)

stowmaket suffolk

check you inlet travk for a film of oil , or the exhaust system this can soon tell if its the blower, but normally blowers will smoke all the time especially under boost, weres guides normally do it on tick over and gear changes.

easy way to tell its to jack front of car up at a reasonable angle and then start the engine if the smoking stops then its the guides.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

maybe its blown the guide seal off like mine did , if its stuttering when it smokes thats oil in the cylinder and not so likely to be from the turbo .

i'll give that a try hoggy, i have noticed its a bit worse when i'm pointing downhill in traffic tbh. I'll reverse into me drive at dinnertime so the fronts pointing up and see how it goes.

robert haven't noticed any stuttering but i might pick up a spare HG just to whip it off and give it a quick check.

Hi,
The only other thing that'll cause it is if your oil is too thin. I had this happen when I first got my Cossie, the oil was diluted with petrol.
1 Oil and filter change later, good as new!
Cheers,
Gavin :)
