Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Quick question about these, you know the real small ones, even smaller than the ND one's everyone else has...

Are they really notchy as you turn them? Mine is and i'm about to re-fit it. but i cant remember if it was before.

I'm thinking it is right. You can feel each field click into place as such unlike a conventional alternator.

it's "magnetic" notchy rather than somethings goosed but it just doesnt feel normal so thought i best check!!

*smiley*

Thanks

I wouldn't have thought it should be like that - going off how alternators actually work???

yup, thats what i was guessing but i know some motors feel the same as this and since one is the inverse of the other then it got me wondering.

i'm talking the small RC 540 style motors.

Hi,
Ian no magnetic field in there 'till you put the power on! Suspect bearings ....
I'm guessing it's not got permanent magnets in there, I've never seen an alternator with any!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Some research *smiley*

Still cant find much on them but it sounds as if mine is fine.

"This is where I will disagree with the statement made that the magnetic pulsation's of the Kubota, are the cause of taking out the rollers on the primary chain. If a Kubota is held in the hand and given a quick twist of the wrist it will spin easily, until it slows down enough for the magnets to take over again"

"Many people know this permanent magnet alternator
I read different things about the maxi current it may deliver.
Spruce say 12A for the model 200G P/N 07-06575
I read 10A to 15A possible. "

I couldnt find one myself either but if you go on kubota.co.uk they list dealers in the UK.

Well i took it too bits and all seems fine, check it out *smiley*

Put it on and started the car, little difference until i was above about 3k. Its been geared down for the miglia by the looks of things as they like 6k rpm apparently and the migs go to about 9k.

I think it should help though and if it comes too i can always gear it up a bit. they're supposed to take a lot of punishment.
