OT advice on claims for me insurance

ok last night at 1755 hrs i was driving back home from picking my wife up, i was stationary in my T5 estate (N reg) when some pillock decided to drive into me at like 60 mph, luckily we were ok and the volvo faired up real well, unlike his micra which is totall`d

i have been told from my pal at body repair center that my car is a total loss, i am aware that the insurance firm will try and de value the car so much so they pay out less. i have heard you can go through Winn solicitors or even Volvo have em, has anyone got any advice about this i still owe 1900 on me car

Sorry to hear about that ...

You will probably have to negotiate with the insurance company over this.

Point out if it had A/C E/w, alloys, metallic paint, low milage, 4 new tyres etc. Best car you ever had, very reliable etc

Its like you are trying to sell it to them.

Also check the private sale book price, quote it and don't back down from this.

If you have the car on your drive if its not to late, wash it and polish the good bits and so on, if the insurance guy is coming to see it to make a valuation.

also quote adverts for similar cars on auto trader. explain thats what i would have to pay to replace it.

my 306 Rallye was a total loss and they paid out what others were going for, based on auto trader prices

if they piss u about .. just ask them to provide the same car , spec etc to your front door

I hate it when that happens...

My kids car got totaled, it was a crackin car, reliable, good condition and we absolutely trusted it. They gave us the book value, $1200 or something So where do you get a car as good as that for $1200?? You can't.... I ended up spending twice that much just to get something that I felt matched it.

yep well this is the top spec 2.3 GLT T5 one previous keeper. full volvo history from date of purchase to the day i got it. It is also Black which are somewhat a lil bit more rare. the initial bill of sale which i still have was 32.000 that was in 1995 !!!!! iam so cheesed off you cant even begin to fathom ! went to start it and the engine management lights are all on..........its toast !!!!!

Just don't back down, I had to go through this whole process last january when someone kindly wrote may immaculate mini flame off 3 days after i spent 600 quid on bodywork on it.

It really is annoying when other peoples stupidity causes so much hassle.

I have been there with a Porsche a few years back.

As has already been said stand your ground, ask for a direct replacement (I did this knowing there were only a hand full of them in the country and none where for sale!!!!!) and sooner rather than later they will pay out in full as the longer your a pain in the butt the more it costs them in time etc....... Soon gets to a point where it is economically benificial for them to pay out as they will start to loose a lot more trying not too!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

if you remember with bir 2 ,i got full market value for the zantia , which buy the way had no MOT on it , and bir2 i gave them a list of a the damage , where they could buy the carbon fibre from and they got a painter to quote for fitting and painting the car ...... the end result was ...the insurnce company gave me the money to repair the car myself
