Funny this should pop up. I've spend a bit of this afternoon looking at airfilter housings that I could adapt (remember, daily driver so don't want to be listerning to a cone filter .... also I need something to plumb the re-circ DV into!!

So far I'm not doing very well. Tried housings from Rover 200, Metro's several Citroens, a couple of Pugs and loads of other stuff too.
I'm trying to get it under the wing if I can so it's out of the way.

I have just bought a Mety Turbo housing of the bay so maybe that is the solution.

I know you guys aren't as bothered as I am about keeping it all quiet but it's worth considering how annoying induction noise can be on a motorway journey!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

im sure someone told me a old escort filter box is what the era mini used? not sure how true that is.

if your not botherd about noise (like me) then would using a pair of tights or similar be any good?
or would it soon cause proplems?

cheers

I used an ERA airbox on mine.....

Alas, parts like that were easily obtained through the Rover/Unipart dealer back then.

It uses an XR3i style filter ( I used a K&N. )

Silent induction.

Ignore the poor condition and the fact its lying open a bit....
pass side front wing.
Only downside, is the fact there will always be hot air in that region. Although I did duct it to the front behind the grill where the air vent duct used to be.
Outlet to turbo is via a hole drilled in the inner wing, beside the wiper motor.

Who knows, if you had the part number, some might still exist in the dealer network ??

Maybe someone with some aluminium fab skills, could make one ?

Each to their own ...... I used to commute in my NA 1380 with a K&N straight onto the back of the carb in the usual fashion ..... 200 miles a day soon became too much and I had to do something about it. Put a K&N element in an RSP cooper airbox (inlet side ducted to the grill which improved matters a little but ultimately there was only one actual solution at that time.
Park the Mini up and forget about it for 2 years!!!!!

As I say, choice is yours....

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

the green taperd one from avonbar does the tick

small and flows up to 225 bhp with no restriction

their postage and packaging is rather over the top though!
