London.

Is it true that you should change your belt drive every 20,000 miles ?
Its done 7000 over 6 years i guess.
If you think i should change it.

is it a easy job, what would i need etc to do timing which ive heard you have to do..
And how would i know what belt to get for my metro turbo engine.
Plus, when i took the case off, it had some oil on the inside. not loads, just abit. is that normal...
Thanks for ya help///*smiley*

Hi,
Had one for 12 years never changed the belt. If you've got as far as taking the cover off, you've nearly done it!
Line the dots up on the pulleys, slide off old belt slide on new one.
As far as I know there's only one belt. Bit of oil won't hurt as long as the belt is dry *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi,
Just make sure the dots are lined up. Just get a belt from your favourite Mini parts supplier *wink*

Hi,
Line them up before you take the old belt off!
Put it in 4th gear and push the car until they line up.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

you should change it every 5 years at the latest or erlier if only used for short jurneys or has very little use, rubber degrades with age as it is only a natural substance

Is it not possible just to take the old of, and the new one without turning anything, it should be like before then?

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i'd just mark it up as it was on both pulleys with something like tippex and then change it. the markings are only needed to re-align if somethings moves. be careful and you'll be fine *smiley*
