Hi,
I'd be pretty sure a genuine one would be like rocking horse s**t. But does anyone know where I can get a good copy?
I want something not too big to let the heat out of the engine bay, without it looking like I've glued half a bath tub on my bonnet!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Gav, no mate it's going to be used WHEN (sounds more positive than if ..... but who am I kidding) I get around to doing my own car.

If you like the look Steve has on his then it is an option. I however like everything smoooooottttthhhhhh.

That means you have to get the glass fibre out.

Steel bonnets

Cut the boonet to suit leaving about 20mm inside the bulge. Slit this and fold it up so that it touches the inside of the bulge, shape as required. Trim this new seam so that you have about 1" of metal then 1" gap then 1" metal extra starting from each side of the box.
Glass over the "tabs" so it's all invisibly held.

Fibre glass bonnets

Same as above but you will have to glass around the whole length of the appature and the cutout must be flush with the inside of the bulge.

Both the above methods mean you can trim off the outer lip and blend it in so it all looks factory.

The other option is to keep the lip and then just use something like Stikofelx between the lips and bonnet or similar to bond it on.

Every day is a school day ...........

please dont cut the middle bonnet crease as this will weaken it and the bonnet sinks where the scoop is been there

i cut 4 50mm holes in under the scoop using a starret cutter

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

Have a search on the net and you'll find several companies who have copied you .... ring them and ask for your licence payment as you have the interlectual rights....

that bonnet is nice! this is my minus the day i collected, note the bulge by the previous owner to clear the rad! NICE, just to demonstrate the bad side of fibreglass! http://www.miniminus.co.uk/pictures/29%20-...ne%20-%2008.jpg

i never said that i was the first with this design*tongue*
all i need to say is : thank u zeemax for the good pictures you gave me off you bonnet*happy* hail powerbuldge*wink*

but i like steel more than plastic so i chose that route.
and with some steel and a welder anyone can make what he or she wants.

@shaneyboy: one nice touch are the hinges. never seen that done before.

Unfortunatly, the whole car has been built with those sort of things done to it, hense why it is now stripped ready for the rebuild!!
