Evolution,

I don't supose you have a pic of your system under the car?

I want to do a 2.5" side exit system and wouldn't mind seeing what the clearence is like... how tight is the fit?

mine might be especially tight with 2.5" as it's my mk1, smaller tunel near the gear change, remote casing and full length sumpguard.

I have a 2" Playmini side exit system. I cut the rolled end off because i didnt like it. Other than the 2.5" tail pipe its propper plain looking.

Bit noisey being a 2" single box for a 1400 normaly aspirated so I fitted a Jetex mid section can. Sports cat to be fitted before next MOT. Some like it noisey, I preffer it real quiet *tongue*

Ah! Nice one!

i looked on there a while back and they only did parts, that'll make it much easier, i'll have a measure tomorow see how much room there is next to the remote gearchange.

I showed this to a friend of mini who just happens to be an SVA inspector. He confirmed my thoughts that you HAVE to have a silencer as part of the construction and use regs and that if the vehicle is presented for test (MOT in your case) it should fail for not having a silencer and if you are pulled by plod they have the power to sieze the vehicle and then insist on an MOT test, at a centre of their choice (which is often bad!!!!) after the vehicle has been repaired. They can report the SORN and have the previous MOT voided as well to enforce the repair.

Not trying to be negative but just warning you that you could be headed for some serious grief. A mate of mine had his scooby impounded last week and the bill to get the car back was the best part of £700 when you add up the enforced towing fee, storage fee, retest fees etc. etc. etc.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

um, i only have 1 silencer under hte rear subframe so if you have clerance under the car for a 2.5" pipe you could run this system. i have an internal gear linkage so have tonnes of room in the tunnel so not sure how it would fit in yours :S

What was it impounded for ???

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

It was impounded because his window tint was too dark and they thought his exhaust was too loud (which is what caused them to stop him in the first place ..... it was the light meter that got his car locked up though).

Apparently the tow truck was there within 5 mins .... no time to do anything about it and because it was a friday and there was "nobody to speak to about that sir" until monday, when he was working a silly shift, the car was impounded for the best part of a week before he could get it back .......

I very nearly had my car impounded because I insured it with HIC on the day after my policy expired, don't worry ... car was off the road, and the cops got me before the system had been update (my stupid fault though for assuming it would be an instant update). Candice got the e-mail, printed it and rushed out to where I was (5 mins from the house) just as the truck showed up ..... 1minute later and I'd have been in for a big bill from the old bill.....

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Stu from Corwall aka Mr Jazz Piano, Love_Machine, kneegrow

I would have told the cops to fuck off and told them to test it to UK regs. 101.3dB (?) at 3000rpm at 1M from the exit. If it is under, it passes. If it is over, you deserve a smack.

I'd rather my mini was super quiet as attracting attention irritates locals/cops/etc.

Stu

Bugger off, I'm getting there.
