After removing the door pockets, I wasn't amused with the way the door pillar was secured to the inner sill.



I'm guessing this is how they leave the factory, but I reckon it cold be greatly improved with a bit of welding, so I was wandering what every one else has done to beef this up.

Also any ideas as to the gash in the inner sill? I'm guessing it must have happened when someone replaced the outer sill in the past.

Hi,
The later shells that post comes down lower but still doesn't meet the sill!
I've not heard of anyone doing anything to the post, as most people who cut the pockets out put a cage in.

A cage will be going in, but I reckon if I can stiffen up the shell with a couple of small bits of sheet steel, it would be foolish not too.

That gap on my Mk1 is about 2-3". I dont worry about it.
