Thats the same as the cable brackets as the carbs that where on the early metro turbos. But the throttle cam on the butterfly spindle looks like a later HIF44. Edited by Brocky on 19th Mar, 2007. BTW - I took my buddy VTEC Pete out for a spin this weekend, and even though I am running her in, he gave it a name, the "Brocket"...cause I'm a brocket maaannn, nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah....

No such thing as an HIF6, there is however an HS6 which is an old style side float bowl 1 3/4" carb.

That makes sense; HS2 was 1.25", HS4 was 1.5" and HS6 therefore was 1.75" - clearly this is where the confusion comes about.

I've never seen a HIF on anything built before 1980-ish - certainly don't remember them on any early Rovers? On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

The MGB used HIF4s. They are essentially the same as the HIF38 but have the HS style manifold flange and use a HS4 type dashpot .

The HIF4 is more or less a 38, and you could fit the HIF dash pot if you wanted. I don't know if they ever made the "other" HIF38 to make a pair though. The twin HIF4 setup is from some MGBs and will fit a mini but the linkage needs cutting down. |
