Hello,
I've got an MG metro turbo engine and I want to know what is the standard diff ratio on the gearbox. There is nothing on the gearbox so I don't know what it is
I'v got a 2.95 diff ratio on my mini but I'm look for a 3.44 to fit my turbo engine so it will be great that the standard gearbox could be one
But unfortunately I suppose that's a 3.2

Thanks for your help

If it really is a genuine non messed with tubo gearbox then it will have a 3.2:1 diff ratio.

normally it's a genuine engine.
My trouble is that it's a goldseal engine with a strange number.
For example the piston's ref is 20831 wich seems to be +20 pistons.

Si my gearbox is normally a 3.2:1

Thanks a lot

Hi,
What's the ratio for a N/A metro? Is there a list of g/box number = ratio, or doesn't it work like that?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

The only ref I found is on the diff : 83/12 in a circle

and the ref of the engine : BHM1668E 147716

I spend my time searching everything about this engine but I always find contradictory informations

So once and for all
ref of the pistons : 20831 ID19 (standard size or +20 ?, dish ??)

diff ratio : 83/12 ??? impossible

That diff ratio is definately wrong.
That's a 6,91:1 ratio which is nonsence.

The numbers you should be looking at for a 3,44 is 62/18

To be quite honest looking at the reference numbers on BL engines is a waste of time and bloody effort as they are not a reliable indicator of what you have, especially with an engine that is potentially 20-25years old now and may have had any amount of buggering about done to it.

If you want to know what you have I suggest you get the measuring sticks out and measure pistons, and count teeth on the crownwheel and the pinion.
