Hi All, iam building a new engine for the mini this year. K1100 16v head, t2/t3 hybrid turbo and the rest of the usual stuff. iam currently trying to find an ecu for it. been looking at emerald m3dk, omex 710, dta s80 pro. each of these ecus have similar functions. iam just no realy sure which one to go for? has any one had much ecperence of these ecus?

i would say emerald if nothing else just for the after sales service

Quality wise DTA is the best but has poor customer service as the bloke treats everybody like a fool if they have the audacity to ring up with a question!

The car is changing again for this year again then! excellent!!!

I dont have any first hand experience with any of them-but from people ive spoken to no one seemed that impressed by the omex..

Don't forget MegaSquirt and VEMS. Both capable units for very sensible cash!

Hi,
Out of the 2 I'd go for VEMS on the 7 porter. I'd go for it on the 2 porter if it worked!

i have an omex and it does the job

the aftersales service has been good from omex who are only in chelt for me, the problem i have is like the MJ stuff i canr find a RR operator with knowledge of it

at least with the rmrald you have dave walker

Wolfie .... Mech Repairs in Cheltenham www.rollingroad.co.uk will sort you out .... that is where a lot of the Omex stuff is developed!!!

I had an Omex unit on the 4age I had in my kit as it came as part of the Raw Engineering trac-pac kit I used initially.

I now have MegaSquirt on and to be honest I prefer to work with 'Squirt but that is because it's aimed at people like me.

Nothing wrong with Omex stuff and Richard is a top bloke.

I'm a techie and thus like that side of 'Squirt .... if you just want it to work then go for Emerald or Omex, both good specs for good prices.

free email tech help is very very handy.
