Quite handy having a shield there...especially if you have a Carb fuel leak! had petrol coming in through the bulkhead! :( Edited by Jason G on 2nd Apr, 2007. On 19th Jan, 2010 wil_h said:

i thought about ally ones but the problem being is the heat issue, ally keeps heat quite well and absorbes it very well, if you made them in stainless stell then thats a different matter, thats why rover chose fibreglass as it doesnt conduct heat very well, just my thought "Can I legally marry people now that I am ordained in the Church of the SubGenius?" aka i know jack sh"t

good point nogin...but fibreplass doesn't reflect heat too good. Stainless is better...depends on the application. Bright annealed steel is good too, but will rust over time On 19th Jan, 2010 wil_h said:

I've quickly made one out of mildsteel. It bolts on the plenum.

cheers nogin....steve came up with a good point. Making it so it bolts to the manifold to stop it moving.

Perfected them today. Hope to get a couple made soon. Found some stainless. Natural, un-polished finish.

yep. Noticed similar things on metro cup cars & manifold wrap. I have a bulkhead one already fitted....but theres no protection against the exhaust. I will be ripping that out and putting one of my new heatshields on.
