This is mine.

Only set up with a vacuum gauge and seat of the pants, but works OK.

Excellent

Thanks, keep them coming.

Axle, B.O.C, Those maps are nice and smooth, more what i was expecting. Bat, your map looks a little bumpy and with idle advance at aprox 30 degrees, how does it drive and whats the fuel consumption like.

Thanks

Hi,
Nice, got 64 curley whirleys @1500 and not bad for something with a 45 DCOE on *wink*
I've got a 286 cam in there so I can run lots of advance low down to improve off cam torque.
109 Bananas @ 5K, didn't rev it past as I was still running it in *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi,
Ermm, no idea what so ever! I put it together on a wing and a prayer 15 years ago.
It was rebuilt in a hurry 2 years ago, when I put the mapped igniton on.
The engine seems to be the same spec as the one on the back cover of the blue bible, from the RR figures I'm getting.
90 odd curley whirleys @4k
That 64lbft @ 1500 has given the box a really hard time though :(
Having said that it was secondhand when I fitted it and it's had a 1380 on top for 15 years!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

It drives really smooth, I was pleasantly surprised, could well be the nicest A Series I've drive. There is a tiny flat spot between 2.5k & 3k but it's hardly noticeable, but I'll be tweaking the map shortly to try and eliminate this. I've no idea of fuel economy, as I don't do enough driving (in the Mini) to notice, but the fuel gauge seems to be going down slower than with the dizzy on, but knowing what the Bloody Open Classic's like that probable means that the fuel gauge is broken.

Hi,
Mini sprocket .. I'm worried about fuel consumption now adays, but when then weber went on the fuel was a lot cheaper!
Might have to pull the 1380 out and drop the MPi in as I've got a lot of travelling to do soon :(
Any news on that VEMS system yet?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Working on it buddy, as we speak.

As poeple have suggested, the tech help is a little to be desired, LOL i think i know more about this now than those who profess to, thats the way it seems. I've been fed duff info several times resulting in me spending hours in the car debugging. But im getting there.

The controller itself is very good once you know how to configure it.I like the dual chanel EGT and dual chanel knock.

Baisicaly a good package, badly represented. I went this route knowing this, expecting to work through it as i am. It cost me £250 and im happy with it.

Going to have a full day at it tomorrow to try and get it running for Sunday, I have had it running briefly so its not far off.

Hi,
Cool. I like the price aspect, and I now know where to get hold of an expert *wink* Are you running this on the MPi block, if so what set up are you running for knock?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Im getting this up and running on the SPi, as a sort of learning curve for the 16v. The MPi block has several extra bolt locations on it that you can use for knock sensors. Im currently leaving the knock solution until later as its a bit more in depth to configure.

The bosch two wire knock sensors simply bolt on. Knock is configured to the specific frequencey of the engine.

As there are two knock chanels and several spare bolt holes, i will be using both knock chanels, one at either end of the block, theres no reason why not.

Also while were on the subject, some have said that the code is locked down, this is some what true. However, if you have a valid reason for gaining acces to the code for a specific development criteria, you can apply for access. There has to be a genuine need for the access, such as the five port, port injection problem.

The other thing good about VEMS is that its already set up for a secondary 'cam phase' trigger, if you populate the board with the chip, Hall or VR. So using an MPi engine and cam, there is a cam sensor already set up. The standard flywheel crank sensor can also be used with a little bit of configuration. The only problem is the five ports.

Comparing it to Megasquirt, from what i have seen, there isnt much difference except for the price, the Automotive grade connectors and the lack of 'configuring for dummies' information. You need a degree in electronics.

Oh yeah and its more of a european affair. Maybe ive been lucky but ive not been hit for tax yet.

I am using the following map for my 1380cc Mini with a piper 285 cam, although I think it could use a little bit adjusting.

Could someone of the more experienced guys here evaluate my map?

Cheers
