hi all

Recently I have purchased a mini which is a 1987 city e. It only has a single tank in it at the moment but something i have noticed is that if im going round a fast right hand bend the petrol comes out of the filler!!

Does anybody else suffer this problem? I am slightly worried about it, incase the back end of my car catches fire!! lol

Is there a way to solve this short of going round corners slower! I was thinking about putting a later tank in it with the anti splash back valve or whatever it is.

Any thought to solve this would be ace.

when i drove a 10" wheeled Mini last it felt insane !

Hi,
Put less fuel in *wink*
Failing that check the cap seats tightly on the neck. I get it on my estate but it's a long flat tank so I expect it, not heard of it on a saloon.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Lowestoft, Suffolk.

I have that problem with my saloon on a full tank, Check the mating face on the filler neck is clean and smooth, also the the rubber in the cap is not perished, giving a poor seal, this is my problem.

I had that, I always assumed it was the rubber on the cap was past it, but never got round to testing that buy springing for a new cap.

I have the same problem. I wouldn't worry about it igniting, but it makes a mess of the paint on mine.

As others have said, put less fuel in or corner slower!

It's still dodgy with petrol, they recalled loads of MK1 metros when they came out as they were crashing on l/h bends due to petrol leaking out the low level filler,Think thats why they put it higher up on MK2's
