Had a problem with my megane at the weekend, which resulted in it being towed back from London without me. Basically the brakes stoped working on the funest road in the world (thats not a fact, personal opinion lol)

Anyways, i do all the regular checks and decide its either the master cylinder or servo unit. a quick check in the old Haynes manual and it says this:

"access to the servo unit is very limited, a slight improvement may be gained by removing the fuel rail"

Limited???? i couldnt even fit my hand in there lol

so now i have to pull the engine out just to change a servo unit!!!!

damn french designers!

I remember borrowing a colleagues Laguna once and whilst doing 70 down the M32 a very calm and polite French voice said "Warning break system failure, please pull over immediately" Turned out to be a faulty sensor, which my colleague already knew about and forgot to mention.

lol

just got a price for a new master cylinder, £45.70 not bad really.

Not going to change the servo as no-one sells new ones (except renault) which point to the servo being fine. I was only going to change it for the sake of doing it lol.

I know the feeling, it's the LHD car in RHD car's clothing problem again.

From memory my old 5gt gurbo was a pain to get to the master cylinder, agree with the left hand drive car in right hand form making it harder, the clutch cable on a 5, there is a nack to it, small hands, and bendy bones, bloody french!
lol

With my other car I can actually sit in the engine bay and work on it, so much easier to work with compared to a mini or anything European.

woohoo, only had to change the master cylinder in the end. Thankfully i was gifted with small hands when i was born!

With a little bit of squeezing and alot of scrapes and cuts i got it out.

now just got to bleed the brakes to see if it works lol
