Hi,
I think one set you use your own 1st gear, the other set comes with a 1st gear.
Cheers,

Gavin :)

The ST set has got a different ratio. This makes the first gear different. The reverese idler must also be changed. The Clubbie kit retains the standard first gear and reverse gear.

However, the ST kit has got three laygear bearings. I think this is a VERY good idea, although MiniWilliams proves that the Clubman set is rather good as well.

Vegard, is the 3 bearing kit you are saying about the "Pre" A+ gear kit?

As i used the gear kit a few times with 3 bearings, it had 2 smaller bearings one end and the normal size the other.

I had no more or less wear by swapping over to the 2 bearing type, if thats a help to any one.

your right it was / is a good idea using 2 bearing one end, but if its the one i used, as the bearings were smaller it was seen that a single larger bearing would be better as it spins slower from being bigger.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

the clubman set seems to cut the mustard, up to power figures around 200 bhp

Wouldn't the larger bearing spin faster? It does have more load area though.
