ive never been happy with the clutch in my pug, i bought it done with around 2k on the new one, its always juddered and the pedal is heavier than a double grey ...... fitted by the fuck monkeys at my clutch

the clutch is so heavy it seems to have snapped the shaft that holds the release bearing on

whats it like to take the gearbox out on one of these? i have an engine brace that goes across the inner wings, if i get it out can i just replace the shaft?

ive a bad back at the mo and to be honest may just set fire to it

Hi,
Can you throw it back at the clutch moneys under warranty? That'll save a whole load of work!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Theres a pin that secures the clutch lever to the top of the pivot shaft, check this first.

Its similar but not identical, getting back on is awkward (but by no means impossible, I've done 4 or 5 now) due to the arrangement of the clutch release bearing fork, it has to hook in behind the bearing carrier as the bearing is integral with the clutch cover on the TD's.

Hi,
If you find a full set of bolts in the bell houdsing I'll be a monkeys uncle.
I'm surprised the driveshaft nut is loose they usually dangle the g/box from the driveshafts!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Jeez Wolfie, they really sound like a right bunch...

just goes to show the quality of service in the uk today....

there's few places i'd trust for anything apart from a tyre change, even then I keep a close eye!

it's part of the reason I don't own a modern car!!

Whoever did that work......

Blokes a definate...

one thing i forgot to mention

i am 99% sure the release bearing and the pressure plate were the original 101k jobs, the plate is a reconditioned one and the recipt clearly shows a full new clutch kit fitted

I must say I feel bad as you drove all the way to mine a couple of weeks ago and I have a knackered BX box sitting in the garage *blush*
