I am seriously thinking of selling my show mini, I built her in 2004 into a herritage shell, she took 6months to build, taking every spare moment i had.
She is only used for 6months of the year (stored in a garage all year), and only on dry days, she has only seen the rain twice, when I got caught out.
Every bush, bearing, and nut and bolt has been replaced, along with nearly everything else, I have spent very near £10k, and without blowing my own trumpet she is a superb build.
Spec.
Herritage shell, in black, wood and picket arches, mk2 wavy grill.
998 cc, metro turbo head (ported and polished, unleaded), maniflow inlet matched to head and twin carbs. cooper freeflow & stainless rc40. sw5 cam, cr 10.5;1, lightened and balenced bottom end, vernier adjustable timing gear. Aldon yellow dizzy. lightend flywheel. close ratio box with centre oil pick up. Produces a very torqey 65 bananas.

Suspension, powder coated subbys, track and camber brackets at the rear with gaz adjustables, adjustable lower arms and tie rods at front with gaz adjustables, hi los, and a quick rack.

Interior, standard black velour, with cobra classic buckets, walnut dash and door cappings, smiths gagues. ally door furniture.

Brakes, all replased, stainless pistons, drilled and grooved discs, green stuff pads.

wheels, 12inch mini lites with yoko a 539s

Just want to know what you guys suggest i do and what you think its worth or shoul I just keep her and enjoy?? I appreciate I will never see a return on my cash but that was never the intention,
Shane.

I dont drive her, wish I had the time, but due to building the turbo minus and bein very busy at work, im very worried she will get neglected. I have toyed with the idea a few times but never had the balls to anything about it, maybe that in its self is my answer.
I have had her since i was 17, and it has more sentimental value than anything. HAve had a few choice words off familly members when I have threatened to sell, but they have a biast opioin. Also I am craving something a little different to have as a weekend toy.

I can only assume you want something you know you can abuse and use - and not somethig you'd be paranoid about?

Well - put it on the bay, with a reserve that'd be the lowest you could sell it for...
If it doesn't sell - then you know you simply HAVE to keep it - and maybe turn it into this mini you so desire...

You got it in one fella! unfortunatly the turbo minus is going the way the show car did with regards to build quality (cant help loving attention to detail)
Before I started the turbo in ernest I had a 5gt as a temp stand in for the 325i the missus made me sell, I miss rear stear and big bhp, granted that may be fulfilled by the turbo but then we are back to a car to paraoid of trashing again. Im also concerned that if I do sell I may regret it. I Have been looking at a few kit cars, tiger e2 / westfield, just for weekend fun, something rear drive and easy to play with.

LOL a turbo was on the cards when I rebuilt her, but didint want to cut the bulkhead being a shiney new herritage shell (this is before I new of the mirage set up) wouldnt be too much work to do, just lower the c/r and im sure the rest of the engine is ok for low boost, throw all the other turbo gubbins at it and in true blue peter style, heres one I made earlier!!!! but would rather stick with the engine that I have as I love the sound of it on full chat, and the shocked faces when you tell them its a 998cc, Shane.

I would be tooo scared to track it, thats why I started building the minus. Too scared off stacking it! My family are as attached to it as me, so they would rather me not.

BAT, no its not why do you ask?? is it because of the pics on the side, lol, sorry they was taken on my phone.

I know what you are talking about. I have a mini that I have had since I was 19. I have toyed a few times with selling it. Since I had to sell the Elise I have been hankering after a cheep 2 seater, but the mini would have to go and I just can't bring myself to do it.

Normally when a question like this pops up the questioner knows the answer. They just want to justify it to themselves. Try flipping a coin. Heads sell, tails keep. Your reaction to the result will tell all.

Knowing a few mates that have regreted selling their pride and joy I vow not to sell mine ever unless it's wrote off or serious financial issues arise. That's the deal. The previous owner cried when he sold it to me and begged me if I was going to sell it that I let him have first crack at it. So think long and hard about it anyway!

I wouldn't sell it if it was mine. Best bet if your thinking about it, is price it a bit higher than you value it, at least that way if someone does want to buy it will seem worth selling it.. (if that makes any sense)? LOl

Thats a mint paint job by the way. :)

Don't sell it, you will only regret it later in life. My car even though it has never yet been completed and on the road holds a massive amount of significance to me, despite having reasonably serious financial problems at the moment selling my Mini was never and will never be an option, instead it has gone at the back of the garage under a cover until a time when I can continue with it.

That and being just out of colledge I had no choice but I wont be making that mistake again Ill be keeping this mini forever.... this ones mine for life *happy*

i dont get it? why not just use it as your daily runner as it is?

...surely not many people get to build a car of show quality and get to enjoy it too...isnt that having your cake AND eating it? :)

I really wouldn't sell it, because it appears you really don't want to. Therefore stop trying to convince yourself you need to sell it and enjoy it!

Thats the sort of sound advise I should of expected from you lot!! I think if I keep it I need to put a little more effort into taking her out rather than adopting the sod it ill take the van or fiesta for ease attidude.
Had our local club meeting tonight, and I mentioned the fact I was thinking of selling, I might as well of been cruisified or burnt at the steak for even daring think it!! I have had that response off so many people now, think I should listen to them!!
I think in all honesty selling would be a huge mistake and regret! I think she has to stay!
Thanks for you thoughts guys, really appreciate it.
Shane.
