i have been floating around here for some time now but never actualy posted so:
Hi ALL :)

i've got the engine in now and have had it running ok well kindof but different story lol

the dizzy has been modified/ installed with points. there was points in it when i got the engine so i just replaced them, but there is metro turbo ignition module am i correct in thinking it just replaces the point and i dont need it to run the engine?(considering i have points) going for mjlj very soon and dont want to spend on something i dont need

what is the voltage the pump needs because there is a ballast resistor for the pump and i have read almost nothing about it and currently am not using it, the pump has 12V
do i or dont i not need it?

and last question for now, at the minute my pump is wired up so when the engine stops the fuel pump doesnt unless its switched off
i know its bad but i will be rewired next week the problem i am having may or may not be related to this but when the pump is running (and engine not) the float bowel over fills and fuel poures out of the back of the carb when the plenum is off and out the float bowel vent pipe when i unblock it, should the float bowel needle/ valve thing be able to hold back the fuel pressure?
it occasionaly does it at idle aswell causing the engine to stall

cheers

you need to adjust the fuel pressure regulator, so the pressure is 3 to 4 psi.

Another way to quickly (not idealy) is to take the dashpot off and then set the regulator to minimum pressure (adjuster screwed out). Turn the fuel pump on then adjust the pressure (screw adjuster in) 'til the fuel starts coming out of the jet. Now reduce the pressure 'til it stopps coming out. this will be somewhere between 4 and 7 psi depending on needle valve settings.

You don't need the balast resistor.
