hi,

like the title: is it any good?

i,m building mine engine on a budget(like the rest of us:))
i know about the phase II but can get a spi for free.
and i hear that it isn't that bad of camshaft from a lot off people but no one can tell what it is that makes the differants.

so maybe one of you all knows the big secret.

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

According to ACDodd in the above link, the SPi cam is the same as the standard 1275 A+ cam and therefore the Metro Turbo standard cam.

Must be something better, how about an MG Metro N/A cam?

Hi,
Camshaft is probably the most important thing to get right ( spend money on )
It's an engine out job to change it and it can compleatly alter the engine characteristics....
Cheers,
Gavin :)

i havent tried it ,but isnt it poss to take the cam out without the engine out ,by pulling the followers up with magnets on old pushrods ?

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

that the reason that i asked this question.
:)
looking at the link the spi camshaft isn't anything special, dammm*frown*

but i now know how to tell a standard one apart from a metty one.

tommorow i will look which one came out off the engine.

sometimes you have more than you know *happy*

i compared the camshaft which came out of the engine with the one's from the link (thanx bat)
and it seems that i have a metty cam.

i use my mini mostly in the weekends, it's not a daily runner. more like a back up if the vauxhaul fails(overhere it's opel so i hope i spelled it right).
i,m have some pistons from fastcarl with a 13cc dish so i'm getting a compression of 1: 8.9.
havent gotten into which boost i can run safely. but noting ridiculos. just enough to be faster then my mates

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

the kent 266 is an "Excellent" cam for turbo road application

the avonbar phase 2 cam has much to comment it especially in 1380s turbo application
