anyone got any suggestions on this one? gone from one extreme to another now.

cars overfuelling really badly, down below 10:1 (thats as low as my gauge goes) at idle, its fouling plugs really quickly and chucking loads of fuel smoke out the back.

so far we've checked the needle valve isn't jammed open by taking off the dashpot and leaving the pump running, nothing comes up the jet at all. checked the choke assembly is all in and located properly. checked the regulator for a split diaphragm and thats fine aswell.

when i took the carb/inlet off the inlet runners were dripping with fuel but we can;t figure out where it could be coming from. the carb was rebuilt a couple of months ago and was working perfectly untill thursday night then it dropped off the lambda gauge and dropped a couple of plugs cos of the extra fuel which resulted in it coming home from newquay on a flatbed :(

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

mine was doing this when the choke wasnt going fullyhome because of the heat sheild.

If its not pumping too much in, then cant really figure it out. does the mixture screw make any difference?

Hi,
Blocked air filter or collapsed air intake pipework?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

the mixture screw doesnt appear to help at all, leaned it right off till the jet was right the way up.

its running without IC pipes at the minute while i try and sort it so that rules out the blocked filter/piping aswell :(

If leaning it off at the jet doesn't make a diff then I would check the choke as Ian said.

Hi,
Bugger I thought about that for ages!
It only leaves the choke or some bizzare crack/blockage in the carb?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

is that something that'll just happen overnight though?

trying to get my hands on another carb at the minute to swap over and give it a try but in the meantime i'll have another look at the choke assembly cos it has caused me grief in the past..

stowmaket suffolk

before you change carb check all the ign side because if you have a week spark that will effect your afr gauge buy showing its rich due to uncomplete burn

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

thats the 2nd thing we checked down in newquay after fitting new plugs, swapped my coilpack/leads/plugs/edis for antons and it was still the same. the breakdown chap used his plug tester aswell and it was showing a fat spark on all 4.

I've got it to run now but its not happy at all, running stupidly rich and throwing loads of fuel out the back.

On my 1380 i have the choke set up so when i't pulled it just raises the tick over a bit with out any mixture richening.
