Heres an interesting problem for you...

Finally got my new engine for the glittery mini running this afternoon.

It runs fine at fast idle on wards but at idle is hunts really badly.

I think the fault is ignition related as I have sealed up anywhere that air could get in (to the extent of removing all the IC pipes and the turbo control and even the plenum!). The other thing that points to the ign is that it seems to be an exact point in the rev range where it drops into this mode - soon as you are above that number it runs cleanly.

Sadly I don't know the revs as the rev counter is not connect (yet). But I would guess its rough below 1500 rpm.

Hi,
What igntion system are you running?
I've noticed with my setup if the toothed wheel runs out a little, in certain parts of the rev range it'll only run on 2 cyls!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi,
Could be the module or pick up.
Is it worse when warm?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Doesn't seem to be any slack in the dissy or its drive - and its the same dissy I've used before on the racer, I know thats not a good enough reason to exclude it from being at fault though.

It won't be the cam chain - its belt drive :)

Now you mention spark scatter I'll double check the dissy cap and ht's in case its cross firing or anything odd like that.

Oh and I will be chaning the module/dissy too

thanks guys

like Tom says it could be spark scatter, it might be worth looking at the bobweight spring's sometimes they develop a bit of slack or get sticky, that can cause this symtom.
