Hi,
What extent of rebuild?
Cam timing?
Valve clearances?
Head torqued down properly?
Dizzy drive in correctly?
Plug leads on wrong way round?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Also make sure that the dizzzy drive shaft was put in correctly, This was the main problem with my first rebuild as i slotted it in in any old place! Let us know how you get on!

pretty sure the the dizzy is right but its not firing and i blew the carb out and even took the carb off and made sure it was clean cant seem to get fuel at the head i tryed and tryed just vapers set all the rockers running out of ideas when you turn it over its like coffing sound and blowing vapers out the top plueum where the pipe goes on to go to the turbo and at one point there was fuel but just on the two pistons both next to each other as you are looking a t the car on the left. depressing or what

Two stupid mistakes I have made in the past:

The dizzy rotates anti-clockwise, I put my leads on clockwise, I must have checked the firing sequence a dozen time before I realised what I've done.

Check the tappets, I once had a head skimmed & forgot to check the tappet clearances, turned out there were no clearances & the valves didn't seal.

The only think I can think of is the fuel pressure regulator.

yeah everytime i followed the haynes in installing the dizzy drive it was 180 degrees out, i thought it was just me but the next time i installed it opposite to my haynes and it fired up straight away.

would this stiop fuel at the plugs carb doesnt sound healthly i think that might be the pro any check you can do it makes a clicking when you move the throtle. I found it really hard going tring to make sense of that driveshaft made sure piston one was at the top and it only seem to go in one way and sightly turned anticlock wise when it engaged i think the to cut mark are vertal that sound right then i put the dizzy and moved it left to right when i was turning the car over no joy i think going to get a new carb just dont understand why theres no fuel at the plug any help before i have a big bill for new carb

Hi,
This is the bit that you need to concentrate on

On 19th of May, 2007 at 11:58pm Zeemax Power said:
when you turn it over its like coffing sound and blowing vapers out

This can be caused by any or all of these:

Cam timing incorrect.

Tappet clearances in correct, or bent valves / not sealing correctly.

Spark timing eg dizzy drive, dizzy position or plug leads incorrect.

As it's blowing the fuel vapour out of the inlet, the plugs won't get wet, the fuel is getting blown the wrong way!
Cheers,
Gavin:)

Cam timing incorrect. defo not this checked

Tappet clearances in correct, or bent valves / not sealing correctly. checked clearances and followed the haynes and i've head the head and valves all redone

Spark timing eg dizzy drive, dizzy position or plug leads incorrect. leads are correct. never touched the leads concerned about this dizzy drive but i position it and it seemed to only go one way as for the dizzy i turned it as the car was turning over got a bit of a back fire but didnt sound like it was firing.

I cant get my head round why theres no fuel my first turbo when i put it on a standard 1275 was throwing fuel out this nothing i have fuel at the pump and then nothing meant to go straight through the carb to the plugs but nothing this makes me think the carbs no good
