Hi all, im thinking of getting a SCCR box and new Crown wheel and pinion.. what’s everyone opinion on the 'ideal' final drive (if there is such a thing) or is it just down to personal requirements?

Is there one best suited to the A+ with a T3 turbo?

if using a SCCR box with 12" wheels what crown wheel and pinion would you recommend to get the best out of the T3 turbo?

Cheers, Mark.

All depends on what you want the car for, 3.9:1 for ultimate acceleration, 2.95:1 for good top speed and cruising, anything in between for anything in between!

3.105 or 3.2 are a good compromise for most people, although some do use the 2.95 to good effect.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

I would normally agree TF but i'm not sure something like a 3.9 would give better acceleration (up to the legal limit *wink*) over something like a 3.1 on a decent spec turbo. defo on a NA though.

Just a thought.

Something that i will find out though as i've got a 3.9 in now and have a 3.1 to play with when i can be arsed!

Only reason for the 3.9 is because it was in the miglia box i put on the motor.

If i wanted a semi race/road a 3.1 would be my choice, purely road then a 2.9

as for track only then i honestly dont know without playing a bit.

Cheers guys, im hoping to use it mostly for track days, bit of weekend fun, not a daily drive.. Should of mentioned that I will be using 1.087 drops.. (sorry, I know that this will change the FD of the crown and pinion (FD x SC Drop = FD*)) but I guess the theory is the same, some where between 3.1 and 3.9 tops for B road fun. :)

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

3.1 or 3.2

I used to run a 3.44 and it would max out at 108mph and i could do that in just over 1/4mile, far far too short

I made this up when I was deciding which way to go, might help, gets abit heavy and goes into tractive effort towards the end tho...

Just gives you an idea of what you will get out of each gear etc.
