After my problems with the oil system in my new build(uber low oil pressure when warm and had to re-prime every time i wanted to start it), i went on gut instinct and put it all down to the oil pump gasket, thinking that this had gone causing all these problems...so today was strip-down time took an hour from fully built in the car to oil pump off (well pleased at the speed) but could not beleive what i saw

thats it there was no gasket *surprised*?? the thieving little twats (at the machine shop) not only fitted the pump without a gasket (that i supplied) but they have fitted what appears to be a standard pump? well past its pumping ability-by date atleast, when i supplied a 300mile old avonbar pump well p'd off.

Annoyed with myself aswell for not noticing (come on i had a good year playing with the block after they fitted new cam bearings)
it was ages ago so.. might aswell get a new pump pics of old pump its totaly phooked

its all back togeather now cold running 45 psi at idle 130+psi driving (think the release valve is stuck)
and when hot 10-15psi and driving 40psi

just out of curiosity i am running 15W40 minaral atm
would changing to 20W40 increase the pressure at idle a noticeable amount, i am going to change to 20W40 next oil change (no reason just bought wrong stuff first time lol)

just thought i would releive a bit of stress thanks for reading :) feel better now

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*
