Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

you'll probably find very few people that run their TM in winter!

Hi,
I've ran my NA 1380 through many a winter on 20/50 no problem. The turbo won't get any special treatment either *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

yes when i was using 20w50 in my N/A over winter, it just took a little longer to get oil pressure when cold start up.

Only problem with CTV is the price ... £30 for 5 litres is about the best your likely to get ..... even buying it 25l at a time I can't get much under that and I got a very funny look when I enquired about the price of a 40 gal drum!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Hi,
The price is a bit shocking, I can get 5 litres of Mobil 1 Motorsport / Castrol R for £25!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

about 5000 miles or once a year whichever is sooner I'd say. Maybe you could stretch it to 6k but I'd say keep an eye on it for the first period to make sure it's not degrading. I can get oil samples tested and do this regularly.

Gavin to be absolutely honest I'd rather walk than run either of those in a performance Mini.

Had some VERY bad experiences with Mobile1 in several different types of engine over the years.

yes i used Mobile1 many year ago when it seemed the "in" thing to do so.

The gearbox felt horrid and very grabby as you changed gear, as it wasn't slowing the baulk rings down, so i soon put a 20w50 in *wink*

Ive been the most impressed with the millers ctv 20w/50 so far. Very little wear on my last rebuild and was only the crank thrusts that really needed replacment.

Hi,
No ,I wouldn't think it would be any good for the Mini as there wasn't synthetic around in 1950 something.
I guess the Millers is more expensive due to the smaller batches it's made in.
Worrying to think an oil and filter change will cost more on the mini than the cossie!
Cheers,
Gavin :)
