Just done a long run to uni and back in my volv 240 glt and when i got back i noticed a squeak from the front, thinking it was the alternator or wheelbearing i ignored it till the next day.

Next day, went to work and squeak begun about 2miles down the road. Ignored again as it was 7am. Had a look with a mate after work and what can only be described as a squeal from hell appears to be coming from the injector in no1 cylinder (narrowed it down to the injector with the old pipe in ear trick*wink*)

Anyone got any ideas as im not too hot with injection, i was thinking bad fuel pressure as nearly every problem in the haynes book of lies points towards that.

Thanks for ideas anyone might have

p.s its mechanical fuel injection

Hi,
I haven't heard of it, but can't see why not.
If you've got a tap in the house slightly open, you can get a squeeking kind of sound, this makes me think it's a partially blocked injector.
Have you tried some injector cleaner in the tank?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi,
Could be a bockage in the metering head. Injector cleaner in the tank....
You could pull a couple of injectors out with the engine running and check the spray patterns?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Nope, got a feeling its the petrol feed pipe, maybe a bit of crap wedged in there *oh well* Ill just have to go theiving at the scrappy again, dont think i can fit the whole inlet system in my shorts tho.

I just cant be arsed to spend a day taking it apart looking cleaning reassembling etc etc. Although it is really getting on my tits when everyone looks at you and laughs (then again that happend loads in my mini)

Ok so after continuing to annoy me for a few days after fitting the stolen injector it appears to have fixed itself and is no longer squeaking. Its been silent for about a week or so, touch wood it wont return.

Thanx again for comments chaps.
