i fitted my 4 wire lambda sensor today, but only connected the earth and signal wires, it reads nothing on the gauge, even when the engine is fully up to temperature .. i was wondering, do the heated ones NEED the heaters to work properly, or are they only really needed during the first 15 minutes or so before it warms up its self?

thanks. Dan

12v feed to the heaters are necessary or the pump cell wont work.

thanks alex, i wired them both up to 12v with ignition and it worked!!.....for about 10 minutes and then went blank again, LOL
i had to settle for a second hand lambda sensor because i had my boss welded in and then didn't have a new one ready so had to get one quick, maybe its just because its old and doesn't work anymore..lol will try a new one.

thanks. Dan

Hi,
If it's only got 1 wire it's got no heater and earths through the body.
A 4 wire sensor has
1 signal
2 signal earth
3 heater winding
4 heater winding

The heater winding is just that, a coil of wire, to get it hot you pass 12v through it to earth to complete the circuit *wink*
