Renewal time for our non tubo subaru, and it came in at £562.

Having been swayed by adverts on the TV, I looked at Churchill online which quoted £405 and Direct line £372. (by the way, the online forms for these two companies are almost identical and make the same references to RBS) and with Direct Line I can pay monthly at 0% APR. Very slight differences in the policies, but the cover, NCB protection, hire car, legal stuff, excesses are the same.

Googled a bit for issues with these companies and found a mix of people with good/bad experiences, but this I feel has to be taken with a pinch of salt as it depends on the claim, what they were expecting etc., etc.

There's a good cross section of fairly :) trustworthy people on here, anyone had any problems or know of any reason why I shouldn't be £190 better off when I renew?

Cheers

Not at all, after all, if you only buy insurance for the sake of buying insurance (I know you shouldnt but I feel like that), then you might as well go with the cheaper quote.

Just my 2 cents though *tongue*

Good site, but it kinda threw me cause the amount of companies that wouldn't insure me due to age or my one motoring conviction was twice as long as those that would!

There is no sense crying over every mistake- you just keep on trying til you run out of cake.

I just re-insured both mine and bread knifes cars (I am the main driver on the comute citroen xsara HDi and the good lady on the Saab 95 aero estate)

The renewal price from Asda on the saab was £700+. I thought bollocks to that, my elise was cheeper. I went on confused.com and got the Saab for £330 and the citroen for £250. Both cars for less than the renewal of 1.

I always hunt around. Just make sure that the quotes given are comparable.

I've had nothing but excellent service from Direct Line. Although I'm not currently with them as they were way too much this year.

Yes confused and supermarket take a cut and direct line and tesco (and other big ones) don't use them. The prices I have had through confused were competitive though, so I am happy enough.

Hi,
I've always found that one insurance company is better for one persons circumstances than another persons.
For example: someone will say to me use XZY for insurance as mine is dirt cheap, I ring themc and it's more than what I'm already paying.
I ring my insurance company every year and ask them if they can do it cheaper, as I have 2 cars and my bike insured with them, they usually knock a little off *wink*
Mini and Cossie are around £120 / £170 each, bike is cheap too.
EDIT: They all come with European breakdown cover in with the price *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Near Lincoln

I use confused.com too and its always been about as good.

I've found the post office top of the pile lately though, and always up there is Norwich Union.

I'm AA insurance, but they are all as good'n'bad as one another. Shop about is the only option....go for the cheapest bit of paper you can find. :)

Insurance is a bit of a lotery. Always ask for a discount - I've never failed yet to get something off them if you phone. My wife spent a lot of time one year shopping around for a cheaper quote before going back to her own company where she got it for £20 cheaper than the lowest quote she got. She now phones them each year year and tells them what she wants to pay.

As for me, insurance renewal has come in £180 up on last year - when I phoned them to discuss I managed to get £100 off straight away

I insured my car last year through Confused after falling out with my last insurer (they claimed they could not compete but I ended up with their sister company). Got a quote I was happy with but the link went down so I called them direct and saved a good bit.
