I recently bought some minispares adjustable rear radius arm brackets.

Today when I began reassembling the rear subframe I went to bolt them on and two of the bolts don't line up. I have fiddled around and by bolting the side two up first then the bottom ones don't line up, and vice versa.

I was just after some opinions on wheter they could be faulty before I phone them and ask for an explaination tomorrow. both sides do not line up correctly.

My only other thought is are there ment to be any washers or spacers I have forgotton about that will cause the line up to be incorrect. I'm sure taking a file to the holes to get them to line up would only bugger my suspension geometry up.

Dont the brackets bolt on the outside, so the plate that we can see would be ontop of the subby!

I wouldn't use a file, just in case you want to send them back m8

Quite intrigued by this as I'm gonna be looking at getting my suspension sorted soon...
Oh and I'm also going with not modifying the original mounting points in any way if the original bracket fits!

Looks about normal for the MS brackets.

Sounds strange, but try putting the misaligned hole bolts in first, and see if the others line up better.

And if you leave the bolts lose while trying to get the others in it's easier.

It is poor though.

Yep standard, just wait till you try and set the front to back alignment. Had to cut and 1/8th of an inch off of the o/s bracket on both Axel's, Josh's, my mate Stuart's and the Mighty Mini I set up! MS quality!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Makes you realise its worth paying the extra for the likes of the KAD ones if it saves a lot of time.

I bought the minispares ones assuming that they would actually fit. I'm going to complain - It may appear that I am really pissed off about this but i'm not. Just can't undersand how difficult it is to produce a simple bracket.

Hi,
Go for it, as you say there's no reason why they shouldn't fit spot on.
Perhaps no one has told them?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I just emailed this to them -

Hi

I recently bought some rear adjustable camber brackets. I went to fit them the other day and they simply dont fit proporly. They were being fitted to a genuine subframe.

I do not have time to send them back and will have to redrill one of the holes to get them to fit proporly.

I thought I'd raise this issue because you may not be aware of it. It definately needs addressing.

Here is a link to a picture of the fault.

Looking at the MS website the ones they have are different from the ones I bought from them about 5 years ago. Those ones fitted fine, only needing the holes slotted if you were using shims to adjust toe.

The KAD ones fit perfectly but they are a bitch to set the rear toe & camber as there is no threaded adjuster like the MS ones.
I discussed this with Colin & Dave @ KAD and there was a lot of shrugging!

So to make the KAD one perfect this is what they need.

The last half dozen or so sets of brackets I've fitted to my cars and others have fitted spot on ...... not supprising when you consider I bought them from Min-Its!!!!!

For parts like this it's a total no brainer or me .... the Min-Its stuff just works ... if you do have any problems with their stuff a quick call will soon have it all explained without once stating what a pratt you've been .... although Dave is no doubt thinking it!!! LOL

Get what you pay for.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

I have some in the garage, camber only .. toe via shims ... they are my preference to the knurled plate type ones.

Will post pics next time I'm in there (but that could be a while as I find it really depressing to go in there and see the Mini knowing that it will be weeks, maybe months, before I can even think of picking up a grinder again :( )

I know the type - shims = PITA - had hoped there was a third type I did not know about!

Fairy snuff then Scruffy. I personally think the knurled type are a PITA as I have never known a set stay put!!

Horses for courses I suppose.

You have given me an idea though .... mmm if only I had some time.

Interestingly enough I have just last night done the rear tracking and toe. I have the KAD brackets.

I don't know how, but one of the rears had moved (possibly during the accident, but it seems to have moved the wrong way compared to the direction of impact)

Anyway, what torque should the radius arm nut be torqued to when using the KAD brackets, is it different to normal?

I will phone KAD if no-one knows, but thought others might know and it might be of interest to others.

We have a 4 hour racer here in Norway that have given up on all these type of brackets as the all moved a lot during a race. He has now made his own setup with camber adjustment on the outside and toe on the inside. He has the bolt system also used on the minispares brackets to hold things in situ if I remember correctly. Another possibility is to weld them when you are pleased with the setup you have...

The best way - my beam adjusts at either end of the arms too..
