Hi I have pretty much decided on getting a carbon fibre front end, and I'm torn between Curley and abs motorsport, does anybody have any photos of either of these fitted, 2-piece preferably. Not trying to diss anyones car but i saw this front from abs and wasnt too impressed with the surface finish,

http://www.minifinity.com/index.php?name=P...ght=fibre+glass

i know they need priming and flatting, but the whole bonnet area seems to dip and flex alot,

any help would be great,

Thanks

Kav

just had a thought could the delve in the bonnet have been caused by heat from the exhaust? ie heating up and then sinking down, has anyone had this problem before, presumably this could be avoided with some form of heat insulation.

I think you might find that ABS sell Curley carbon products but do their own fibreglass stuff .... I believe (may be wrong) that Curley's fibreglass stuff is made by ABS .. LOL

ABS stuff fits well but every Mini is slightly different, especially if it's had any scuttle repairs.

Prep will be more than for metal if you want it perfect finish wise.

It is difficult to get an even "weave showing through" finish on carbon parts but is possible with car .... usually means you can do very little flatting on the resin surface so if you want that look it is best to go for the best panel you can find, this will mean collecting in person and inspecting every one they have!!! If they are a good company then they won't mind one bit if you explain why your doing it!!!

There is little benefit to going carbon over grp if your going for a finish where you can't see the weave, certainly not worth the price differential IMHO.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

I'll have to find out if abs do cf curley stuff, because I live in hull and as usual there is no supplier anywhere near me apart from abs, and the front nic had from curley looked really good, so I'll have a ring around tomorrow, thanks for the replies btw.

By the way when you are talking about an even amount of weave showing are you talking about exposed weave? as this is not the type I am getting due to it being painted, I am not sure on how these fronts are manufactured, is it not the same as grp, ie plastic mould reinforced with carbon?
