pre-verto clutch help! spacing the straps! & questions

hey all! i'm peeing about trying to space my strapson my flywheel/backplate & wanted to ask what you chaps use, i need space it about 1/4" i'll do photos if need be!

what do yo guys use to space it out, are there specific spacers or do you just use appropriate washers, i'm using 2 metal straps!

ultralite flywheel & billet ultalight backplate!

also is there a top or mark on the diaphram or dont aftermarket ones have them, i'm using an orange diapram

i'm just having my lunch & reading the mini expert magazine on the clutch setup subject lol! & consulting you chaps as ya all experianced, its a mini fibbling day today :)

Diaphragm usuallly has a letter A stamped by one of the bolt holes.

theres no, A or mark on mine!

anyhow, been having a search in the garage, i've found the tube spacer from the verto clutch slave cylinder bracket, i thought this cout be cut to the relevant size to space the bolts/straps from the flywheel, this tube has a cut down its length so i'm thinking it may not be any good? what ya reckon chaps

got the straps from the flywheel to the backplate "just" touching! s i think my shimming efforts are ok!

bigger prob is the diaphram is touching the flywheel to backplat bolts, therefore there's a gap of about 1/4" between the diaphram mounting holes when the diapram is just resing on the top

what have i done somat wrong chaps? :(

i've just hit my hand with a hammer for being so f$(%*n" stupid!!!!!!!!! about this clutch thing!

i'd put the diaphram on wrong, alls well at captain duuurrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhs!

i've just had a quick go at opening my eyes & actually thinking about what i'm doing, a quick rotatation of the diaphram & alls aligned sweet as a nut! hehe i'm just loading a pic to make sure i've done this job ok!

i'm trying to figure out what it means to get the spring plate flat

i done a search earlier & was reading andyh's article

mine looks flat when the bolts are torqued down?

i was'nt sure if i should do the "turbodave" backplate mod! i think its to have 1.6mm machined off the backplate lugs to increase clamping pressure ????? any thoughts appriciated as always chaps

if it is flat, dont machine anything of! your billet backplate may have this mod already done to it. Where did you get the backplate?

i just bought it frm minits! this week, the wallet could'nt really afford it but it was a moment of the magpie! i seen the new shiney thing & though hmmmmmmmm i want one! i'll take it!

i'll fiddle with the clutch when i get my stuff back from balancing & take pics for opinions,

at the moment i'm only going on looking at the diaphram from underneath when i have it torqued down, it "looks" flat to me, if there is any other method or viewpoint i can check it let me know chaps

i did make one boo boo! the novice i am! i knew not to do it! & made the point of having the masking tape out!
but........twat head here! i've only gone and painted the part of my blummin flywheel that the clutch gets clamped too, the shiney bit "usually! what a nob!!!! i'll just sand it off i think! just a light paper that'll remove the paint
