Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

The MOT requirement is a bit vague, basically as long as you have good vision its ok.

My car has one drivers side wiper and thats it.

Now i'm thinking if its good enough for the race driver to see then why not on the road?

If its going to be a pain then i'll have to install a full mini setup but i'm not sure i have all the bits. at this rate it will be cheaper to buy a scrap mini for the bits i need!! i've already bought an old loom for it which took more fixing than making a new one!

As long as the sweep of the wiper covers the "correct area" basically the driver half, it should be fine.

They have to self park though!

you sure on the self park?

My old van didnt and neither did my midget.

Mines a 1969 on a new hertitage shell.

It does do the drivers side but i wasnt sure if this was enough.

Well it did pass a few years ago not parking, but the last 2 MOT's the tester insisted that they had to park!

Mine is an '88 so the law might be different for older cars?

Probably worth checking with the MOT place as they never seem to have any continuety between each MOT station!

Hi,
I'd say that from the words "view to the left and right" you'll need 2 wipers or 1 that cleans both sides.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

the mot tester has to be happy that you have a good view from the drivers seat. so i rekon he'll say you need 2 wipers.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Iain,

Did you try the test with one wiper? I see that you now have two.

I have the same problem.

Thanks,
I'll have to work out a way of supporting the motor as I've only got thin air in the normal position.

try its...what the worse that can happen.

i know that there are two "zones" of the windscreen for an MOT zone a (within the drivers wiper motion. zone b - within the passengers.

if you have a stone chip of 10mm inside zone a its a fail. and its something like 50mm in zone b. so i would say that no wiper on the passenger side would be a fail.

on the other hand soooooo much is left down to the testers discrestion!

thin air will work for the test! thats where mine was to test that they worked! ha ha!

then just whip the motor off after the test if you dont intend to use it in the rain.
