Studs for thermostat housing when you remove spacer?

I decided to get rid of the spacer on my turbo engine as i will be drilling a heater take of on the other side of the block.

However the old studs were fookd so i decided touse the shorter studs from a normal mini one but they dont seem long enough. What studs do i need when i use just the metro housing without the spacer?

Any help would be much appreciated.

5/16 unc bolts?

yeah its 5/16 unc.

I got long 5/16 unc bolts from work then cut them to length and used them.
If you do use bolts and cut them down put a nut on first and it will retap the start of the thread when you remove it.
