Been on holiday up in the Lake District and came home through the Dales. I had forgotten what a great road the A684 is, and today it was sunny and there was hardly any traffic so I could go at just a nice pace to enjoy the road and the scenery. Great way to finish our hols :)

Reminded me of when I used to go for a drive just for the hell of it. Does anyone else do this and what's their favourite roads?

Cheers

Been a few years when driving for the hell of it...but German country roads last year. Just a delight...for smoothness, speed & scenery.

Alright guys,

Found this road when taking a back way home from Fort William to Aberdeen via inverness...just had to stop and take some snaps...it like being ontop of the world, in the middle of the mountains...it truely is the highlands

Yes that is the road in the distance, I wish it had a fast bike at the time, nice straight road...*smiley*

I know it sound unbelieveable but there are many roads like this in the highlands, best thing is you can drive on them for miles and still not see another car...we got to 36 minutes one time. Best time to go for a blast is a week day afternoon... practically the roads are yours....*smiley*

Cheers

Mine has got to be the B3081 near, shaftesbury. It has the legendry zig zag hill down it. Nothing has kept up with me down it.

And the view across the valleys from the top of it picturesque, (sp) for those who care!
