Hi all.
Right, i have standard brake setup on my turbo, 1275GT.
Disc at the front, and shoe's at the rear of course.
Is it worth upgrading my front and rear brakes. ?
If so, what shall i go for... the car will only be used for road use Only. dont wanna spend £££ just something that's alot better then What i have.
Be greatful for some info and some recomendation.

If it has discs, as long as they are in good condition they should be ok, at least at first.

I would say go with them and perhaps put in a set of uprated pads when the ones in there get low.

Yeah just normal standard disc at the front, shos at the rear.
The disc look rusty looking..
So no point upgrading the front disc and shos for something better.
Cheers

the rears don't do a great deal of breaking so not to much point worrying about them.

IMO try the front set up as it is and only upgrade if you need it, its pretty good as std, if you go for an upgraded pad you might find they don't feel as good cold and never really get hot enough to need the extra performance of the uprated pad.

at some point a new set of discs and pads would be wise, they don't cost the earth either.

Hi,
You'll need Metro turbo calipers for those discs.
I use the EBC version with black stuff pads, excellent.

Cheers,
Gavin :)

have you got vented setup? if not then vented discs wont fit.

I have pretty much always used 1144s with std (cheap) discs and never ever thought i need better brakes, only really got them to fade a handful of times coming down off the mountain.

I personally wouldn't even let a Mintex pad into my garage let alone on the car!!

Ferrodo normal road pads or EBC blacks work brilliantly on the road. Vented discs aren't really required for a normal road acar as you'll never get them upto a decent working temp.

For the track I would always run EBC green stuff. If the car is going to run on hte track alot then might be worth using the vented discs.

The 4 pot calipers are great as they increase the available pad area quite a bit.

If you have single line brakes on the car get rid of them ast the same time!!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

have you done a search for green stuff on the site Roger? You will be amazed on how much negative feedback you will find.... I am using carbon metalic pads on the road, and find them fine, although they make my rims dirty after 1 km...
