Hey guys, my mate has a bit of a problem with his mini atm- apparently it has no first gear whatsoever. He was driving out of work when it felt as though it popped out when he down shifted, but when he tried to put it back in there was nothing. Also reverse is very hard to engage.
Now, since I've had a few too many pints to do anything tonight, and since I know fook all about the gearbox atm, was wondering if any of you guys had an idea? Tis a 2000 1275 MPI if that's any help.
I swear the amount of work I do on this guys mini I could have got mine on the road by now!

There is no sense crying over every mistake- you just keep on trying til you run out of cake.

YHi,
I don't know what the problem is exactly, but MPi boxes are well known for being shite.
Easiest way to diagonose is to disconnect the remote, then try to select the gear with a pair of grips on the selector shaft.
If you can get 1st then it's the remote, if you can't then get the lump out and strip it down :(
Cheers,
Gavin :)
