Select reverse gear and it will give you a better angle to get a punch onto it. *wink*

You'll need to undo the other link that goes to the gear stick aswell.

the grub pin for the bottom rod,

the rod above it there is an obvious bolt.

put it in gear (can never remember which one!) and tap it out with a flat ended punch.

I hate these pins so much I put a bolt through with a nylock on the end, M6 i think.

both rods need to be disconnected from the gearbox,

the pin could be tricky to drill as its hollow, split down one side and springy.

I wouldn't try drilling as you are very likely to break the drill off as it would catch on the slot in the roll pin.

If its stuck then it would be best to get a bit of heat on it than drill.

Oh yeah, make sure you use a punch big enough, if its too small it will start to go through the centre of the roll pin and make it an even tighter fit. *wink*

I too am thinking of doing this as mines apart at the moment! Didnt know if it was a good idea or not as there is a little bit of play and i wasnt too sure if it was a bodge or not!

Would you reccomend using a bolt and nylock then? I have it ready on the collar already, death to the heathen roll pins i say!

M6 and nyloc is a BODGE. Use the proper roll pin, and spend a couple of quid on a proper punch, then you will have no problems.

Hi,
Me too with the bolt, no nut *surprised*, but the bolt is looking very worn nowadays. It's been in there for a few years....
Cheers,
Gavin :)
