Is there a quick, but surefire way to identify an mpi gearbox?

Thanks

(PS, Searched but not found anthing other then difference between A and A+)

Hi,
Usually had a red sticker on the diff housing with 2.7 MPI on it...

Yes the ones I have seen have a sticker on diff housing.

The other common feature is that all the layshafts and gears seem to be made out of a special type of grey fudge.

was not laughing , the stickers usually's missing, that's how I identified mine , it had the little cooling bracket unstead of the rad one,
if the stick missing and it haven't the bracket , then count the teeth, youy'll find S ratio ( approximativaly)

The 1st motion gear has 18 teeth and not 17 (As Fab says like an S box). Crown wheel will have 58 teeth and pinion will have 21 to give 2.76 FD.
