Hi all, hypothetical question.. Because I wouldn’t be stupid enough to do this.. *oh well*

If you were to link the negative side of the fuel pump up to a live feed.. Then turn the ignition on is this likely to f-up the fuel pump? I thought it would just goose the relay..

Doh…

Is that the pump being wired up backwards, or +ve feed on both sides? Because the second would cause nothing to happen. The first may blow something if there was a flywheel diode, then it may take the fuse out, or burn something out.

ummm, i guess that this happening could have nothing to do with the pump not working.... oh arse. That means that i could have a oil pressure problem.. minis!!!! could just be the pressure switch?!

i have recently made changes to the position of this to accomidate a pressure gauge. (to the last in the line on 2 t-pieces..) will this affect the oil pressure switch working?

worth a question before a take it all apart again.

cheers again.

Mark.

Hi,
Just connect a pos and neg to the pump via a fuse from a battery to see if the pump runs....
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

the pump will only run when cranking i believe if its a proper turbo setup.

i wire my in to the ignition live with an intertia switch for safety, then as soon as the ignition is on, the pump runs and in the event of a shunt it stops!

mines via a relay - and will cut out in the event of a drop in oil pressure.. i know the pump works now and its a new relay, so i guess i just need to check the oil pressure switch.
