I've just got my mini insured through HIC, and they have told me that I need to get an independent valuation done on the car. Anyone know where I can get this done?

Cheers

I though HIC offered this as part of the insurance?

Thats what ive done with mine and im with HIC....which remind me I need to send a cheque to them for the valuation... *surprised*

They charge 15 quid for the valuation.

Jim get Mark Wanstall to do it. He did used to run a mini specialist centre

A lot of people in mini clubs (here not included) wont appreciate the work and costs involved.

He valued my mums car for me.

i'll do it.

50p but i'll give you a £1 for it *happy*

to be honest i thought that with agreed valuation cars the price of the insurance went on what you wanted to agree?

Hi Jim I have had various mini's insured with HIC and everytime I have and them Agreed Valued. My mini club chairman was able to provide a valid valuation each and everytime. I think HIC are the best insurance brokers as they have some understanding enthusiasts (not necassarily mini) who understand about resale or replacement of such vehicles. I had agreed valuation on a modyfied mini 4 years ago of £4000 and when it was stolen they sent me a chq within 14 days!

It's really hard to put a price on my car, as I've had it for 14 years, and spent silly money over the years. What do you think would be a rough valuation?

Hi,
It's worth what it would cost to build a new one as far as agreed valuation goes.
Otherwise there's no point....
Cheers,
Gavin :)

seems like HIC have changed their agreed evaluation procedure, before all they asked for was reciepts and pictures.

i have to say i completely agree with bat, if it doesnt cover what it'd cost to get it built again its not worth it. However, that doesnt obviously include the time you've put into it, or how much it'd cost to get someone else to build it for you.

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

Jim, given the time and development that's gone in to it, i reckon it's got to be worth well over £15k. The prepping endaf did on the body and cage must be worth fortunes alone!

well to build a mig they reckon 30-40k so i'd guess around that to be honest.

but if i was trying to buy it, i'd say around the 15k mark.

Not really thought about it, but you're right. Solis's car on ebay is probably a good start.

No money would ever replace a car owned for 14 years and i bet if you added up it would be 40k +. You need to find out wot they want if you get a valuation for 15-20k will they acctualy pay you that ? let us no wot you sort.
