Well i have decided to take the plunge and convert my clubby 1275 into a turbo monster starting tomorrow.

I have never attempted anything like this before infact the most mechanical thing i have ever undertaken before this is changing a set of brake pads lol.
But i have decided that if i want a turbo car then i had best learn about them and more importantly how to fix it if ever anything were to go wrong and of course the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself has to count for alot aswell.

anyway this is my clubby not to everyones taste no doubt as the whole of the rear is a base box at the moment but i do plan on taking that out and converting it to a more light weight racer after the engine conversion if all goes well.

if anybody has any hints or tips for making the swap easier please let me know as like i said im a complete newb to this.

Looks pretty mean, I like it

Loose that big hunk of ice and it'll fly..

Best advice I can give you is to read everything you can find on this site, the search function is a great tool and will tell you everything you need as long as you spend the time researching

Have fun

apart from the ICE i really like that. Will be sweet as a turbo.

As t2 said, read as much as you can on the site. I spent days going through the begginners tech and FAQ sections, worth their weight in gold.

I must agree,

Ditch the half of ton weight in the back and feel the difference, even before the turbo lump goes in!

joeybaby..

they have to be tinted realy otherwise you would only see the woodwork of the base box in the back and i think that would look worste.

yeah isnt that car like nearly a ton in weight due to the sub enclosure (which in fact in now not removable)

i also seem to remeber that the rear suspention is uprated for the weight, and the rear tyres are trailer ones??

I used to see this car when i was at cov uni a couple of years ago. Always made me chuckle looking at the bloody great speakers right next to the drivers seat.

Looking good btw.

Hi,
WTF is that silver box on the inner wing, looks like an old CAV regulator?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

yes its a flux capacitor.

been thinkin on it and i have decided to keep the sounds in the car.
i might knock that one out and build somthing a little lighter though to try and get the most out of both worlds.

anyway engine is in now and nearly all hooked up just need to wait on a few bits to finish it off but well on the way.
and im so glad i decided to have a go myself as i have learnt loads and thoroughly enjoyed getting greasy :)

the only problem is i am enjoying it so much i want another to do lol.
a few pics for an update
