its not a quick shift its a short shift.

you need the right one for what type of gear change you have, is yours rod or remote?

the one in your link is remote, this ones rod. buy whichever one fits your car.

Thick question.
What's a remote gear change ?
I take it a rod change is where the rod Goes from the gear change to the Gearbox,
where u have to put the pin in ?
Cheers

Mark, The WTF was for the link From Bud666
Babies & weddings???? Try the link, you will see.
I would never take the pi**, Really
Remote gear change was fitted to early cars and has a huge aluminium casting between gearbox and gear lever.
Rod change is probably what you have and it has 2 metal rods around 12mm diameter between gearbox and gear lever.
To my way of thinking on this matter, if you fit a short shift to either type you will be wasting your time and cash.
If it does happen to be a remote type change you have you would be better to fit a reverse gear lock out than a short shift.
If you have a rod shift I think it will make the gear shift feel less positive.
What do you think the advantage of a short shift would be? It might save a few Milliseconds on a gear change. OK for Mr Fenton and Fastcarl but not worth it for everyday road use.
Save your cash and keep a better feel to your gearchange.
Cheers to you with a cherry.
Have a look at the above link and you will see the reason for the WTF
Regards
Dave

If you dont like the long gearchange, it may be more worthwhile to simply shorten the gearlever, which I think most people do.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Hi,
I've had a Minisport one on my rod remote for 10 years now, no problems.
I like it *tongue*
Not endorsing the brand as they may not be any good nowadays?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I've got a KAD 2 on my daily drive and that feels great. Not to mention the pull up colar for reverse which feels so much more refined.

Buy a proper one or don't get one at all. My experience with the cheapo ones has not been pleasent!

the cheap ones ive had were rubbish, really notchy and just felt wrong. the KAD one looks to be designed well though. to be honest there is nothing much wrong with the standard mini stuff IMO

Save your money and cut a bit off the top of the standard lever, job done.

As a point of note "The DON" uses a completely standard gear lever assembly, no need for any "quick shift" bollocks at all.

use math, if you cut it in half, it will have 1/2 as much throw, lop a 3rd off it and youll loose a 3rd of throw etc

how much throw do you want to loose?

Hi,
The only problem with shortening it is you have to reach further for it.
Not a problem if you're a "shorter" person, but at over 6ft I don't want to bend down to change gear *wink*
Same applies if you wear a harness....
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Yeah thats a point.. i dont want to bend down too far.. and cutting it in half will make it abit uncomfy...
