Hi,
Almost certainly, you can get a turbo manifold to glow bright red *wink*
Having said that I've had a LCB that colour too! *surprised*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Why use time and effort to paint that? First of all, it won't make the car faster, second, it's not visible.

not sure theres much that would work on a turbo manifold paint wise, i've used hammerite & hi-temp paints on N/A exhausts & thats worked ok for a while but on a turbo hmmmmm.....

ceramic coatings may work but its pricey

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

if you want to make it look pretty and make a difference you can always wrap it in heat proof tape.

U lot are piss takers lol but i can handle it.. *tongue*
The manifold looks crap, full of rust. so thought i'd spray it.. not the turbo though. i cleaned that up and used metal polish to bring it up. worked a treat.
Cheers.

Or get it ceramic coated..... doesn’t that come in a chrome effect?
I might be mistaken though.

tbh, i'd wirebrush that off before the maiden voyage. Slightest hint of boost and that's going to stink.

i'll hold my hands up & i'll admit i paint bloody everything when i get the chance & its removed & i dont really care much about the smell but i am a bit of an oddball in my own opinion & plenty of ppl will agree with me lol *happy*

mark1275gt, if it burns of it burns off aint it you've had a bash at keeping it tidy looking, i'm sure most od use would prefer the turbo pipes to look good all the time rather than a rusty finish, its a subject worth looking into is hi-temp coatings on a budget!!!

just a thought, thats probobly a load of bollox lol *tongue*
you know that metal blackening stuff that frost automotive sells, i wonder if that would work

the only other solution is the exhaust pipe that comes out of the turbo, have that made out of decent quality stainless tubing!

just my 1/2pennys worth hehe *tongue*

I didn't mean you painting your exhaust manifold, I meant this thread. Ask for the general opinion, and then ignore it???

you can paint the manifold without it burning off. a friend can get stuff sprayed with surmetal and it comes out silver. his work use it for coating turbine blades on military aircraft as it prevents corrosion and reduces wear.

i assume it would cost a small fortune if i had to pay and i didnt bother as the heat wrap covers most of it and reduces under bonnet temperatures.

What BENROSS said, made me change my mind and use Exhaust High temp paint, and not HAMMERITE. :) so this isn't a wast of a post at all.
You know you all think im great. lol
Thanks for your help lads..

I was just re-assembling my engine and found the manifold was a beautiful gunmetal black colour with very little rust... maybe because on the first startup the oil pressure line melted and it got covered in oil?? either way it looks pretty good!!

Anyone else want to throw a couple of pints of oil over their manifold and test my theory??
