ive been scrolling through every previous related topic about wireing in fuel pumps,
and its just left me confussed.

Whats all this about the oil pressure switch?
i thought it just turned on a light.

cant i just put a inertia switch in after the ignition switch and run the feed to the pump from there?
would that not kill the pump, dizzy and stuff in the event of a crash?

cheers for any advice

Hi,
Yes use an interia switch.
The original pump relay was connected to the oil pressure switch, but it's not the best way to do it.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

You should power the ignition from the inertia switch as well so that if it trips the engine cuts immediately and you dont keep driving with no pressure and get to a dangerously lean condition as the bowl empties.

But you wouldn't be able to make any boost with no fuel pressure, I guess it would run lean momentarily then die.

If you run MS there is a fuelpump output that stops the pump when the engine stops.

Why not? its the boost pressure, fed from the plenum that pressurises the fuel in the bowl. The fuel regulator just maintains the fuel pressure 4psi above the pressure of the fuel bowl. This ensures that the fuel can get in but does not overwhelm the piddly little float valve.

Either way its not a bad thing to insure against a lean condition, there speaks a guy who just rebuilt his engine!!
