Hi
Just fitted the new turbo which actually provides boost, so thats a positive, I'm happy :)

Unfortunately there is a load of fuel pissing from the float chamber of the carb. So i'm unhappy:(

Also the engine does not seem to rev freely like it did before boost, its misfiring and spits back through carb.

Could the fuel leak and misfire be related? Obviously next thing is to rebuild the carb. But will this solve the misfire?

I have a video on here " MISFIRE"

cheers
Chris

Might be the large 'O' ring on the float chamber cover or choke seal. Just done mine! :)

could be as simple as needle valve not seating properly....

But if the float bowl os flooding like that, something needs sorted asap !!!

yeah i have ordered the kit. But for time being i had a test with a N/A carb, and it still misfires.
Suggesting it's the ignition. Then i remebered i welded the weights up in the dizzy, as i'd seen something on here about it. you dont need any advance apparently. Well i think this is to blame for the misfire so i'm going to strip and grind off the welds tomo night after the Tatton Park VW show.

Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Cheers for the help

well i'm getting pretty fed up now.
Just spent ages stripping the dizzy to grind off the welds (and they we well on there aswell) and it still misfires :(

I'm stumped, coz it still misfires when the turbo feed is removed. And it did not misfire the other day before fitting the new turbo.

I'll just have to shell out for a new coil, leads, plugs, cap and rotor arm, just keep tracing the fault i suppose.

Is it the same in every gear ?

Has there been any other changes to the car recently ?

not had it out of first gear yet, still in a project stage.

no changes other than turbo and welding dizzy up (which is now freed up)

I have bought new plugs, cap, rotor, leads and borrowed a couple of coils to try tonight.

I'm thinking i'll change one thing at a time and check, that way i got an idea for future reference, and i'll report back on here tonight.

Cheers
Chris

Yesss
Thanks for the help gents.

I went through the ignition system replacing one thing at a time, and its sorted!

In the end it tured out to be the last thing i checked, the TIMING!! LOL

oh well at least there is all new ignition stuff on there.

Turns out the ignition was almost 90° too advanced!! but i'm RETARDED!!!

so it runs very nice now.

just get that carb rebuilt as BENROSS says. and get it on the road. bit of a dodgey road test *wink*

cheers once again
