i have read a few topics from searching about rev limits and what are safe. the only thing is i still havn't got a answer i was after.
i know standard metro turbos peak power is a pinch under 6200rpm.
is it still safe with a nearly standard metro turbo engine (ported and polished head, intercooler, 8-10psi boost) is it still safe to run to this high in the rev limit or not to bother going that high?

Hi,
I'd say 6- 6.5k is enough. You don't need to rev the nuts off a turbo engine to get the power, as most of it happens in the mid range.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

The real answer is going to be down to the engine build.

There is no point reving an engine much past it's useful power devilery but equally what is the point in having an engine that gives peak power at 7k but never revving it past 5k.

A short session on the rollers will tell you your useful power band .... set a rev limit just of the top of that.

I've seen plenty of MG turbo lumps regularly reved into the 7s without popping but really, there is little point.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...
