Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Just in case one of you lot has messed with these...

I've got a mk3 astra van, 1996 that has central locking etc. Last night i went to it at work, turned the key and only the drives side unlocked. opened the door and the alarm went off etc! doh!

so got in, locked the door after me and it reset and i could drive home as it appears the immobiliser (if there is one) is within the key and doesnt work with the alarm.

Only problem is, i have a key for the drivers door, one for the ignition and non for the passenger door or boot...

After playing last night i got it to unlock by pulling the solenoid down on the drivers door, but now cant get it to do anything else.

Basically means i've got a van i can lock the front doors and not the boot!!!

I'm assuming that there is some sort of switch in the lock mechanism to tell the other doors to shut, any ideas on how to test it or anyone got the wiring diagram?

Going to the scrappy tomorrow, was half tempted with just getting a complete door, will be easier than trying to undo all the levers and locks, then get it out of the door!!!

Any help would be appreciated!! *happy*

i'm researching at the mo but cant find anything with the same problem.

Hi,
There were switches on the barrel IIRC.
One does the dead locks and the other the c/locking, I think?
There is a transponder chip in the key for the immobiliser.
Are there un/locking buttons on the key?
Also there's a central locking module in the O/S kick panel.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Not very sunny swanage

mk3 astras dont have imobilisors as standard as far as i know, well at least the three in my house dont, and neither do any of the others i work on. my guess would be the little plastic dowel that operates the centrla locking has fallen off. pop the door card off and have a quick look.....

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

I had a similiar problem 3 weeks ago!

Except mine was the solenoid jamming down, effectively locking me out of the car!!

There is a microswitch on the lock barrel, aswell as some sort of switch in the solenoid.

Dave

EDIT: Just realised its a few days since i've checked the forum, and this is several days old!
