Started up new engine for first time last week. Had a few problems initially with the MK1 dizzy ignition module which I tested according to the Haynes manual and diagnosed a faulty unit. I replaced the module and bang she fired up first time. Now after go through the running in process the module seems to have blown again. I have the stock DLB198 coil with direct 12v feed. Has anybody had similar problems or can think of why this is happening as it could work out expensive replacing the module everytime I use the car or could it just be that I've been unlucky with the modules??

Hi,
Check the dizzy, is it a reluctance setup or hall effect sensor in there?
Check the coil's resistance too, as this may be out and over loading the module.
Did you put some heatsink grease on the back of the module and nail it to a large piece of ally?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi

This was really weird as I checked it the morning after and all worked fine. I even went back through the Haynes manual for testing and received different (the correct readings) readings.

Anyway just thought i'd let you know that all now working!
