Due to Vegards post in another thread (incuded below),

I have been thinking about making up some tie bare reinforcing plates, the thought then occured it may be an Idea to get a few sets knocked up and offer them up on here.

if anyone has done this mod can the post or PM a pic of it to give me somthing to base the plates on. also what thickness of steel would we like to see? would 3mm be overkill?

Cheers!

Joe.

I just hope you've strengthened the tie bar mounts!

Not particularly, Ive added a bolt, tieing the inner bit to the outer bit (if you know what I mean) on each side

ive seen/read about people adding gussets either side, but is that really necessary?

YES!

Thus just happened to me on a road car...

well, i got the scissors out earlier, and made a template, pretty damn simple really, heres some pics,

one from the side, note the mesurements,105 & 25mm

one from t'otherside 40 & 15mm

and one from front showing the bend, (90 deg near as damn it)

the other bracket just has the bend the other way.

Do we reckon this is enough bracing?

Also had a session on the d/shaft holes with the gas axe:
